ESOL provision in the UK
This page is about the government’s policy on English classes for immigrants, and responds to a Green Paper on social integration (published in 2018) which highlighted access to English classes as a key issue.
- The Green Paper.
- A response sent to the British Academy (which was preparing an Academy response) by three fellows, Jenny Cheshire, Paul Kerswill and Dick Hudson, in May 2018.
- A government press release trumpeting £6 million for ESOL (down from £10 million in the green paper, which isn’t even mentioned).
